An atoll, commonly also referred to as ‘coral atoll’ is a ring-shaped coral reef that encircles a lagoon.
As results of volcanic eruptions, the atolls are created when lagoon forms over the subsided craters subsequent to an eruption. The coral of the atoll sits atop the rim of the extinct seamount or which has eroded or subsided into shallow waters.
Flying across the pacific viewing from the sky, the atolls come forth as circular formations at the surface, potruding from the deep sea.
As such the ‘Atoll’-ring has come to resemble those formations with it’s periphery of rose cut diamonds portraying the atoll coral rim, which then enclose a lustrous keshi pearl as an illustration of lagoon formed in the crater.
