Johannes Kepler (born in 1571) was a german astronomer and astrologist, best known for his laws of planetary movements, which acted as a basis for further research and created part of the fundament for Newton’s Gravitational Law.
He also did groundbreaking research within optics, helping legitimise observations of the co-existing Galileo Galilei. Furthermore, during his career, he came to be assistant of renowned danish astronomer Tycho Brahe as well as royal mathematician and councellor for emperor Rudolf the second of Prague.
